Detroit, MI- Koos haum Lub Suab Nqua Hu (Rising Voices) tau txhawj txog txoj kev

tsis ncaj ncees los ntawm cov tub ceev xwm Immigration and Customs Enforcement

(ICE) tau txhom Michigan cov pej xeem Es Xias Qab Teb thiab cov Es Xias Qab Teb

Sab Hnub Tuaj. Xov xwm tau tshaj tawm tias tub ceev xwm ICE tsis yog lam ntes pej

xeem nram kev xwb, lawv ntes pej xeem hauv tseem fwv tej chaw txiav plaub ntug ICE

kom lawv mus ntsib lawv. ICE yuav muab cov pej xeem ntes tau no xav rov qab mus

rau lawv lub qub teb chaws yam tsis raws txoj kev txoj cai li choj.

Yog li no, pom meej tseeb hais tias txoj kev txhom neeg xa mus qub teb chaws, tsis yog

nrhiav kev nyab xeeb rau teb chaws Ameskas tiam sis yog xav txhom neeg xa kom

coob ntau li tseem fwv siab nyiam xwb. Cov pej xeem Hmoob thiab Nplog raug ntes

hauv Detroit hnub Wednesday tag los no yog neeg thoj nam (refugees) thiab pej xeem

lawv tsis tau ua txhaum cai loj, tiam sis lawv raug dag tias mus xam phaj xwb ces cia li

raug ntes lawm. Lawv raug ntes yam tsis muaj kev ncaj ncees vim tseem fwv tub ceev

xwm ICE tsis qhia lawv tsev neeg los yog kev txhaum dab tsi. Qhov tseeb tiag, tseem

fwv cia li xa lawv mus qub teb qub chawm lawm ntsiag to xwb.

Cov pej xeem raug ntes yog peb niam peb txiv, yog tub yog ntxhais, yog peb cov thawj

coj, yog peb cov tub lag tub luam, thiab tshwj xeeb tshaj plaws yog tib neeg.

Lwm Yaj yog ib tug Hmoob thoj nam nyob hauv nroog St. Johns, muaj poj niam, thiab 6

tus me nyuam, nrog rau nws pog uas tseem tab tom muaj mob loj cancer. Nws raug

ntes tom tsev ua hauj lwm. Yog tias nws raug xa rov qab mus qub teb qub chaws, nws

yuav tau ncaim poj niam me nyuam thiab ntshe yuav tsis pom nws pog lub cawv xeeb

cawv hlav. Lwm Yaj kuj yog ib tug thawj coj (Paj Tha) hauv lub koos haum Hmong

Family Association uas yog ib lub non-profit hauv xeev Michigan. Nws lub vaj tsev, poj

niam me nyuam yuav tsis muaj tus txiv tsev los khwv rau lawv noj lawv haus thiab peb

sawv daws yuav tsis muaj ib tug thawj coj zoo li nws.

Mohan Karki, yog ib tug neeg thoj nam Bhutanese-Nepali, nyob hauv Ohio raug ntes

thiab kaw nyob hauv Michigan ICE lub nkuaj. Nws poj niam tab tom muaj ib plab me

nyuam yuav yug, los tseem raug ntes ua kev nyuaj siab rau nkawd ib khub niam txiv.

Nws tus poj niam Tika yuav tsum yog txhawj txog kev yug me nyuam xwb tiam sis ho

yuav tau los nrhiav kev thaiv kom nws tus txiv tsev txhob raug tseem fwv tub ceem

xwm ICE muab xa rov qab.  Nkawd ntshai hais tias ntshe ICE yuav muab nws xa mus

rau lub teb chaws txawv uas tsis yog nws qub teb chaws ces yuav nyuaj siab heev.

Tika tau los yug me nyuam ib leeg, thiab tau tut us me nyuam ib leeg lost seem yuav

tau tsoo tas zog kom nws tus txiv txhob raug xa mus rau lub teb chaws uas nws ib txwm

tsis tau nyob li.

Ob tug neeg raug ntes no tsuas yog 2 leeg los ntawm txhiab tus neeg raug ICE ntes

kaw thiab xa mu qub teb chaws txij li thaum Trump tau los ua tus thawj Pwm tsav

Ameskas. Cov pej xeem raug ntes no peb yuav tau nco ntsoov tias lawv tsis yog tub

mab tub qhe xwb tiam sis lawv yog laj mej pej xeem muaj nuj nqis rau siab kwv noj

khwv haus, muaj txiaj ntsim rau sawv daws. Yeej tsis tsim nyog qhov lawv raug ntes,

faib cuab faib yig, ncaim poj niam tub se, vim lawv zoo ib yam nkaus li txhua tus pej

xeem nyob hauv Michigan.

Cov pej xeem raug ntes li no tsis yog lawv xwb tab sis yog raug rau peb tag nrho sawv

daws vim tias txhuas tsev neeg thiab zej zog sawv daws vam thiab cia siab rau lawv

txhua tus. Ntaub ntawv tau tshawb fawb pom hais tias txhua tsev neeg cov nyiaj hli

yuav poob qi los txog li 70 feem pua (70%) tom qab tus ib tug hauv yim neeg raug ntes

mus lawm. Thaum txom nyem tuaj lawm, tsev neeg ntawv yuav tsis muaj vaj tsev nyob

lawm thiab kev noj kev haus yuav txom nyem tuaj. Yog thaum tseem fwv txhom ib tug

mus lawm, lawv tsis yog cais niam txiv, cais laj mej pej xeem, thiab tsis yog ua kev kub

ntxhov rau cov neeg raug ntes xwb, nws ua kev kub ntxhov rau peb sawv daws tag

nrho.

Tseem fwv txoj kev tsis ncaj ncees, kev ntsim siab ntsim plawv zoo li no mas peb tsis

txhob lam tso tseg yooj yim. Thaum lub 5 hlis ntuj Memorial Weekend tag lo no, tseem

fwv Ameskas xa 160 tus Hmoob, Nplog thiab Nyab Laj rov qab mus rau Nplog Teb thiab

Nyab Laj Teb chaws. Ziag no tseem tshuav li 16,000 tus neeg Es Xias Qab Teb Sab

Hnub Tuaj muaj ntaub ntawv yuav raug xa tawm teb chaws Ameskas tiam sis tsis paub

tias xyov cov neeg no puas yog xa mus qub teb qub chaws los yog txawv teb chaws es

law ib txwm tsis tau noj nyob dua los. Vim muaj coob tus cov ntaub ntawv sau tias lawv

tsis muaj teb chaws vim tias cov neeg no los yug nyob rau hauv thoj nam los yog yug

rau tshav rog.

Nqua hu sawv daws thooj siab koom ntsws. Peb lub koos haum Lub Suab Nqua Hu

(Rising Voices) ib txwm txhawb siab, pab laj mej pej xeem Es Xias txoj kev ywj pheej,

kev noj qab nyob zoo thiaj txiav txim siab los mus tawm tsam txog tseem fwv txoj kev

siab txia ntshav zoo li no, vim tias yog kev tsis ncaj ncees rau txhua haiv neeg nyob

hauv Michgin no tib si. Lub sij hawm no, peb pom tias yog ib qhov teeb meem kub

ntxhov loj heev mas peb sawv daws yuav tsum thooj siab koom ntswv los tiv thaiv txoj

kev tsis ncaj ncees no.

Koos Haum Lub Suab Nqua Hu (Rising Voices) thov txog txhua leej txhua tus

Michigan pej xeem yuav tsum pab hu xov tooj rau cov nom tswv tiam lis sawv cev

nyob hauv xab phas (Congress) thiab tiam lis sawv cev xab phas qis (State

Legislators) kom lawv pab tawm tsam rau Kevin Raycraft uas yog tus thawj tswj

ICE Field Director nyob hauv Detroit kom nws tso cov pej xeem raug ntes nyob

tsev laj cuj rov qab los rau lawv vaj lawv tsev, nrog poj niam tub se nyob ua ke,

thiab muab txoj kev ncaj ncees pub rau cov pej xeem no vim lawv twb tsis yog

neeg phem lawm. Thov nej nrhiav nej cov nom tswv tiam lis sawv ce li nram no.

Ntaus ntawv nrhiav cov nom tswv tiam lis sawv cev:

Ntaus ntawv nrhiav cov nom tswv tiam lis sawv cev qis:

Ntaus ntawv nrhiav tus tiam lis sawv cev State Senator:

Nram no yog tsab ntawv yuav xa rau nej cov nom tswv tiam lis sawv cev

Script:

Dear (name of elected),

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent regarding the cruel and inhumane uptick

in deportation cases of South Asian and Southeast Asian community members in our

state. The persons being detained are parents, sons and daughters, community

leaders, and small businesses owners, but most importantly they are human.

(Insert personal connection if you have one or feel comfortable doing so)

The ripping apart of families is not  just heartless, it is also detrimental to the very fabric

of our society and leaves a negative impact on our economy. Studies have shown that a

family’s income decreases by 70% on average after a family member is arrested by

ICE.  Detention and deportation places families left behind at a higher risk of

homelessness and food insecurity.

We should be focusing on strengthening our economy during this time and funding our

K-12 schools, not tearing families apart. I urge you as my elected representative to write

to  Regional ICE Field Director Kevin Raycraft and ask them to stop the separation of

families.

Sincerely,

(Name)

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Rising Voices is based in stolen occupied territories called Waawiiyaataanong, named by the Anishinaabeg and includes the Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe (Chippewa), Odawa (Ottawa), and Bodewatomi (Potawatomi) peoples. We acknowledge that Asian American immigration is part of the history of settler colonialism and  that all Indigenous peoples have and continue to be forcibly removed from their homelands. Rising Voices stands in solidarity with Black and Indigenous communities who continue to be systemically excluded and oppressed through the ongoing damaging effects of settler colonialism, genocide, and myths of white supremacy.
